Film Creation as a separate programme was initiated in September 2009 under the lead of director and cinematographer Jaroslav Brabec.

The criterion for admission is that the applicant succeeds in the practical exams as well as an interview focused on student´s general knowledge.

Film Creation Study Scheme

Students are introduced the magic of film making as well as demands which each of the relevant professions brings. The programme comprises of two major groups of subjects – general and specialized.
In the subjects focused on film making – both theoretical and practical - students are presented theoretical knowledge and practical experience by renowned professionals active in film making, television and also in advertising agencies.
Students learn about used formats and video recording systems in their particularities, about possibilities and ways of using lighting technologies, they get familiar with the appeal of editing composition dramaturgy as well as the significance of the audio feature of a film product, they explore the secrets of film history.
Active knowledge of information technologies and systems in relation with trends in film and television are integral parts of students´ knowledge. Professional studios and film and television oriented companies continuously present their students with the latest advancements in film and television technology.
The essential part of the programme is working with video and audio recordings. In the framework of practical training students are presented all areas of film and television. Teachers in various specialized disciplines focus on each student individually during the course of the study and based on mutual cooperation will try to choose the most suitable position for the student within a television team or advertising practice.

Film Creation Background

The background for the specialized programme comprises of classrooms and studios equipped with audiovisual, lighting and information technologies, all of them situated in a new pavilion opened in June 2009.

Seminars focused on analyzing samples of film and television dramatic work as well as documentary and advertising work are a part of the programme but also those where students meet renowned and active filmmakers and specialists in all creative professions.
Film creation graduates from Michael perform in production and cinematographic teams, as editing, sound or direction assistants, or as individual creative professionals. Another possible prospect of a film creation graduate is to continue studies at college or university, e.g. Prague FAMU.
School educational framework of Film Creation was based on the general educational programme of Multimedia creation 82-41-M/17.
